I struggle with this . . . we live in the most prosperous nation in the history of the world. Even those who live below the poverty line in America have an abundance in comparison with most on this planet. Worldwide, many people don’t have houses; A lot of us have houses for our cars. We call them garages.

If you think you are not rich (or just to gain a better appreciation of where you “rank” in the world), go to http://globalrichlist.com. Plug in your annual income, as well as what you consider to be ridiculously low incomes in America. Your jaw will drop.

Pastor Andy Stanley once asked a question regarding who Jesus was really talking about when he referred to “rich people”. Our nature says that rich people are those who make a lot more than us. The real answer: You and I. We are afflicted with wealth and blessing beyond our imagination.

Luke 12:48b has been the verse of the Bible that has hit me the hardest and caused me to take my leadership seriously: ”From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”

What are we going to do with our wealth? Our skills and talents? Our time? Are we going to let decades go by and not make a big impact, because we’re waiting until we “arrive” as evidenced by more money, more education, or work “settling down”? If so, we will likely miss what God wants from us. He wants us to have an eternal impact NOW with those we lead, love, and maybe don’t even know yet.

He has given us a crazy amount of blessing, and entrusts us to have a BIG impact with it. I don’t know what that looks like for you or even me quite yet, but I’m struggling to figure it out. What I am sure of is that it is unconscionable to continue status quo.

Below is an extremely powerful video for those who both haven’t yet given their lives to Christ, and maybe especially for those of us who have and are at various stages of the disease called “Depraved Indifference” like me. The cure for this disease is two-fold . . . give your life to Christ, and then discover how He gifted you to have an Eternal Impact.
